Linux Mint Cinnamon fractional scaling breaks Steam Overlay
Linux Mint Cinnamon's (experimental) fractional apparently renders at high resolution then scales down. Unfortunately, this breaks Steam's in-game overlay, causing the mouse cursor to be tiny, and for mouse events to be offset from the cursor.
My workaround is to disable fractional scaling and then just scale text, icons, etc. to a large enough size to be legible on my 1440p monitor.
This issue is already well known, but I wanted to write this down since it was the first (and most annoying) issue I encountered when switching my gaming setup to Linux Mint Cinnamon (from Windows 10).
